Lake McQueeney Dam Construction Update

The Board of Directors for Lake McQueeney Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 (LMWCID 1, or “the District”) would like to provide residents an update on the work performed so far at the dam for the Lake McQueeney Spillgate Replacement and Dam Armoring Project.

Schedule Status:

Substantial completion date is currently Mid-September, 2025 (see below)

Current Work Status:

• Bay 2 Cofferdam – completed
• Bay 2 existing structure demo – ongoing (Doghouse remains)
• Bay 2 and Bay 3 dewatering – completed
• Bay 2 and Bay 3 cofferdam excavation – started
• Bay 3 existing structure demo – ongoing (Doghouse remains)
• South Abutment structural concrete foundation widening - completed
• Pier 2 structural concrete foundation widening and downstream extension - ongoing
• Maintenance bridge drilled pier shafts – started
• South Embankment electrical – ongoing

Upcoming work:

• Bay 3 - concrete seal slab
• Bay 3 - structural concrete foundation 1st lift
• Bay 2, Pier 2 - pour back spillway concrete foundation section
• Pier 2 - downstream extension
• Maintenance bridge – drill and pour concrete pier shafts
• Maintenance bridge – pour concrete maintenance bridge columns and pier caps

Steel-Fab, Inc (steel gate manufacturer)

• Gate manufacturing ongoing
• Gate components delivery will begin the end of January and will continue through mid-June

Many homeowners may notice with this update there is a new "substantial completion" date. Based on the findings by Sundt and the new efficiencies put into place, the substantial completion date is closer to the original September anticipated date. LMWCID 1 will continue to monitor and update future posts with any changes to this anticipated substantial completion date.
