The Lake McQueeney Water Control and Improvement District No.1 Board of Directors held an educational open house at Lake Breeze Ski Lodge on September 26th. The Board and District consultants were on hand to answer residents’ questions related to the replacement of McQueeney Dam, the financial information of the District and the election regarding the three propositions on the November ballot.
Residents who attended were able to discuss the upcoming engineering, construction and maintenance needs of McQueeney Dam with a representative from Huitt-Zollars, the District’s engineering consultant, and two Directors who are leading engineering discussions with the community. Through the exhibits provided below, residents were able to view diagrams and pictures of the current Bear Trap Dam and observe some of the safety and maintenance concerns. Residents were also able to examine the WCID’s proposed solution, Hydraulic Crest Gates.
Community members were provided the opportunity to speak with the District’s financial advisor, Post Oak Municipal Advisors, about the District’s financial plans and funding for the construction of the dam. Residents were able to examine the dam’s historical hydroelectric generation along with two bond issuance scenarios provided.
Allen Boone Humphreys Robinson LLP, the District’s legal counsel, was also available to visitors to discuss the proposition language that will appear on the ballot in November.
Documents provided at the open house are posted below. Residents are encouraged to review the documents and submit any follow-up questions about the District’s election via this website’s Contact Us page.
