10-10-2024 Monthly Project Update

The Board of Directors for Lake McQueeney Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 (LMWCID 1, or “the District”) would like to provide residents an update on the work performed so far at the dam for the Lake McQueeney Spillgate Replacement and Dam Armoring Project.

Schedule Status:

Substantial completion date is currently late September 2025

Current Work Status:

  • Structural concrete work for N. abutment wall – 1st lift completed
  • Structural concrete work for N. abutment wall – 2nd lift started
  • 1st pier fish ladder extension has been completed
  • Mussel relocation and exploratory excavation of Bay 3 has been completed
  • Structural concrete work for 1st pier wall – 1st lift completed
  • Soil grout injection at the retaining wall has been started
  • South embankment grade beams for dam armoring are ongoing

Upcoming work:

  • Structural Concrete – North Abutment Wall Lift #2 & 3
  • Structural Concrete – 1st Pier Lift #2 & 3
  • Cutting Bay 1 Cofferdam Sheet pile
  • Begin Bay 3 Cofferdam
  • South and North embankment dam armoring earthwork and concrete placements

Steel-Fab, Inc (steel gate manufacturer)

  • Steel Fab gate manufacturing is on schedule
  • Schedule on track to meet need by dates
  • Hydraulic cylinder factory acceptance testing (FAT) – Steel Fab is conducting oil testing
